"Why We Worship the Way We Do"

"Oh, Taste and See ... the Lord is Good!"

Adoration is the expression of our faith and love for our Father. Below you will find some Biblical references on "Why We Worship the Way We Do". Feel free to join us in worshiping God.

Why is your praise and worship so "alive"?

"Rejoice to the Lord with joy, serve the Lord with gladness, go before His presence singing, enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise, thank Him and bless His holy name." (Psalms 100:1- 2, 4) "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." (2 Corinthians 3:17) "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." (John 8:36)

Why are musical instruments a part of the worship service?

"Praise Him with the sound of a trumpet. Praise Him with psaltery and harp. Praise Him with harp and flute. Praise Him with strings and insdtruments. Praise Him with resounding cymbals. Praise Him with jubilant cymbals." (Psalms 150:3-5)

Why do we worship God?

"Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only." (Matthew 4:10) "Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and GIVE Him glory, and worship Him who made heaven, earth, sea, and springs of water." (Revelation 14:7)

How should we worship God?

"But the time is coming and has arrived when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth, because they are the kind of worshipers that the Father seeks. God is Spirit and His worshipers must worship in Spirit and in truth." John 4:23-24)

Why do we start to sing?

"After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from all nations, tribes, peoples, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They wore white robes and had palm branches on their hands, and cried out with a loud voice, 'Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb. (Revelation 7:9-10)

Why do we clap and make so much noise?

"Clap your hands, all you nations, shout to God with shouts of joy." (Psalm 47:1)

Why do we raise our hands?

"Raise your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord." (Psalm 134:2).

Why do we dance before the Lord?

"Praise him with a tambourine and dance" (Psalm 150:4).

Why do we have audible praise to God?

"Through Jesus, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that confess His name." (Hebrews 13:15)

Why do we sing choruses as well as hymns?

"Do not get drunk with wine, which leads to debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, talk to each other with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs." (Ephesians 5:18-19)

What are the "gifts and fruits" of the Spirit?

"But the fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance." (Galatians 5:22) "Here is My Father glorified, who bear much fruit, so shall you be my disciples." (John 15:8)

"Now, there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit, and there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord, and there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God who works in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is GIVEn to each man to obtain profit, because to one is GIVEn by the Spirit the word of wisdom, to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another by the same Spirit, to other gifts to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discernment of spirits, to another diverse type of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues, but all this works that one and the same Spirit, dividing each man separately as He wants ". (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)

"Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)

Why do we sing in "tongues" and in oiur native language?

"For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is fruitless." So what will I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind, I will sing with my spirit, and I will sing with my mind.” (1 Corinthians 14:15-16)

Why do we have "speaking in tongues" and "interpretation of tongues" in the Church?

"Now to each one is GIVEn the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another the ability to speak in different kinds of tongues, and to follow another the interpretation of tongues." (1 Corinthians 12:7, 10, 1 Corinthians 14:4).

Why do some people "testify" or share a story in the Church?

"And all the people saw him walking and praising God, and they knew that he was the one who was sitting for alms (asking for money) at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with astonishment and admiration for what had happened. ." (Acts 3:9-10)

What is "prophecy" and why do we prophesy?

"But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement, and comfort." (1 Corinthians 14:3)

Why does the whole Church immediately prays for needs and specific?

"When they heard this, they raised their mouths in prayer to God. "Sovereign Lord", they said: "You made the heavens and the earth, and the sea, and everything that is in them (Acts 4:24).

Why do we receive tithes and offerings?

"Bring all the tithe to the store, so that there is food in My house." Test Me on this", says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not open the floodgates of Heaven and pour out so many blessings that there will be no room for it. " (Mal. 3.10)

What is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit GIVEs Believers various benefits as stated in the New Testament. These include: the power to witness and serve others; a dedication to the work of God; a more intense love for Christ, His Word and His lost; and the bestowal of certain spiritual gifts. When the Holy Spirit initially fills the Believer, that person will speak in an "unknown language" (also called "prayer or heavenly language") as the 120 believers did in the Upper Room on the day of Pentecost (Acts 1:4, 8, Acts 8 :15-17) and another group of born-again Believers (Acts 19:1-6)

Why do some people "fall" or become "dead in the Spirit" when they pray?

"Jesus said to him:"I AM"and as soon as He had said "I AM" they drew back and fell to the ground." (John 18: 5-6) "And when I saw Him, they fell at His feet as dead." (Revelation 1:17) "This was the appearance of the glory of the Lord, and when I saw (Ezekiel 1:28) "And then the house is filled with cloud, the house of Jehovah, so that the priests will not be able to bear the ministry by reason of the cloud, the glory of the Lord had filled the house.” (Chronicles 5:13-14)

Is healing still available in the Church today?

"Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)

"By Whose wounds they were healed." (1Peter 2:24)

"And heal the sick who are in it, and tell them: The Kingdom of God has come near to you." (Luke 10:9)

"When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed, and He casts out the spirits with His Word, and He will heal all who are sick." (Matthew 8:16)

"(Jesus) He himself took our diseases, and gave away our diseases." Matthew 8:17

What is the "laying on of hands"?

"Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was GIVEn by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery." (1Timothy 4:14)

"Of the doctrine of baptisms, of the laying on of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment." (Hebrews 5:2)

Why do you put "Oil" on people before you pray for them?

"Is he sick among you, that he invoke the elders of the Church, and that they pray for him, anointing him with oil in the Name of the Lord"? (James 5:14)

We hope this helps you reconcile what you can see in our services with the actual recorded events within the Bible. If you have any questions, we invite you to leave your concerns and questions.
